Redwoods Stewardship Connect - Effective October 22, 2026
Redwoods Stewardship Connect lets Redwoods Leadership Group, LLC, doing business as Redwoods Stewardship ("Redwoods," "we"), work in the QuickBooks Online books of the churches and nonprofits we serve, so we can deliver the bookkeeping, reporting and advisory work you hired us for. It is an internal tool, used only by Redwoods staff on behalf of client organizations that have authorized it.
What we access
With your authorization, the app connects to your QuickBooks Online company through Intuit's official API. It can read your chart of accounts, transactions, vendors, customers and donors as recorded in QuickBooks, classes and locations, and financial reports.
At the direction of Redwoods staff, the app can also create or update accounting entries, such as recording a deposit you've told us about or posting a journal entry, as part of the services you've engaged us for. A Redwoods team member reviews and approves every entry before it posts, and each one is labeled "Entered via Redwoods Connect." The app never deletes or voids anything in your QuickBooks file.
We do not collect payment card numbers, bank login credentials or your QuickBooks password. Sign-in happens on Intuit's own pages, and Intuit gives us a revocable access token, not your password.
How we use it
We use your data only to provide the services in our engagement with you, such as monthly close, financial statements, reconciliations, budgeting and CFO advisory. We never sell your data, use it for advertising, or combine it with other clients' data.
AI-assisted processing
Redwoods staff may use an AI assistant (Claude, provided by Anthropic) to analyze and summarize the financial data the app retrieves. When this happens, the relevant data is sent to Anthropic for processing under its commercial terms, which do not permit Anthropic to train its models on our business data. A Redwoods team member reviews AI-assisted work before it is used or shared with you.
Where it is stored and how long
Access tokens are stored only on Redwoods-controlled computers, in owner-only protected files on encrypted disks. They are never kept in shared folders. Reports and analysis we produce are kept with your other engagement files for as long as we serve you, plus any period required by law or professional standards. After that, we delete them.
Who we share it with
We share your data only with:
- Intuit, as the provider of QuickBooks and the API the app uses
- Anthropic, as described above, to process data during our work
- Anyone you direct us to share with, or as required by law
Security
All data moves over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access is limited to Redwoods staff who work on your account. The app cannot delete data, every entry it creates requires staff approval, and every entry is logged.
Disconnecting
You can revoke access at any time. In QuickBooks, go to Settings > Apps (or Connected apps), find Redwoods Stewardship Connect and disconnect it, or ask us and we will remove the connection on our side. Once disconnected, the app can no longer reach your books.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we will post the update here with a new effective date and let current clients know about material changes. For questions or requests, contact David Goochee at david@redwoodsstewardship.com or by mail in Chesapeake, Virginia.
